Thanks for all the great comments on the yarn that was dyed at Shelridge Farms. Once again, it was a great time - it was fun hosting you Cookie, and you're welcome back any time! I was extremely curious to see how the yarn would look knit up, and since I don't have any socks on the go I wound up a skein of the brown and pink yarn. I haven't gotten far enough into the sock to tell how the colours are going to behave.
------
When I last posted, I left you all with a cliffhanger. What was to become of the stocking? Would I find more red yarn?
I made it out to Romni yesterday morning and searched through the shelves of yarn. I found another ball of white and green in the same dyelots - score! But I could not find the red I was looking for. Option 1 - wait and order another ball. Option 2 - live on the edge and try to find a match in a different yarn.
I chose Option 2, and the match is pretty close. I wouldn't have done this if I was knitting a garment to be worn, but for a Christmas stocking, I think that it looks pretty good.

You can only see the change in red if you look really close. I have to admit, I'm tickled with the result. The pattern is Christmas in Tallin from Knitting on the Road. And what's that in the corner? Why, a second stocking!

I can't see the difference in the stocking colors at all (and the internet never lies). Can't wait to see the pair! The pattern is pretty darn cool.
And I'm also curious to see how our yarns knit up. I think I'm a bit afraid of pooling and such. They look so pretty just the way they are!
