Thank You!

I did it - I survived the MS Ride this weekend. 200 km (that's about 125 miles) in two days. Over very rolling terrain. Rolling enough that I'd call it hilly.

Thanks to everyone who sponsored me, with your help I raised $1,085 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. The weekend's event raised over $400,000 - not too shabby!

The ride was very hilly, and today I thought that I would have to get a ride to the finish line in one of the support vehicles. I was tired, I was sore, and I didn't want to ever see another hill again, EVER. It was at this point I was questioning why I do things like this, that maybe it wasn't such a good idea. My chain had fallen off as I was riding up a hill, so I had to stop halfway up a hill and fix it. The next hill was just over the top of the hill I was on. There I was, chugging my way up the hill, when a mini-van pulls up alongside me. There was a man in the passenger seat, and a woman was driving. The passenger window was open, and the woman spoke to me "Our son has MS. Thank you for doing this."

So, why do I do things like this? I do these things for the people that were in that van. My fundraising, and doing this ride will help make their lives a little easier, and the two small sentences they spoke gave me what I needed to make it to the end.

Thank you.

I made it!
