The View From Up Here

Hi, remember me? Ya, that's right. I used to post on this blog, but I've been a slacker lately and you haven't heard from me in a while. But now I'm back and you're gonna be in trouble, hey now, hey now...Sorry, that got out of control. Anyway, Lisa and I have been visiting two of North America's largest cities the last two weekends. Last weekend we went drove to Chicago and had an absolutely fabulous time. We drove there Friday and drove back Sunday and packed a LOT of activities into those three days. The Food! The Shopping! The People! All wonderful. The yarn store we went too, well, wasn't quite as exciting as we had hoped, but that's probably a good thing since it allowed me to spend my money on shoes instead! We visited Wrigley Field, a shoe store district (it's near Oz Park), the magnificant mile (at night and during the day), the John/Herbie Hancock building, Buckingham Fountain, and a food festival (that was completely unintentional and the stress of walking through those thousands of people put us all a bit out of sorts, but we got over it). Here's a couple of pictures from the trip, one of a local landmark and one from the view of the Hancock building:

We took public transit and the people were all so nice and friendly to us. A couple of people asked us for directions but that was a fruitless exercise on their part. The drive there took us 11 hours (Who know traffic would be bad on the Friday night of a long weekend?) and the drive home took 9 hours. That was some good knitting time, let me tell you. I have almost a whole tank top finished and Lisa finished one sock and most of another ankle one.
This weekend we are in another famous, but maybe slightly smaller city for some good times with sister and good friends. I'll give you a hint...tonight we're getting 'Stinko'. Another couple of hints are the local landmark (See the single arch?) and the view from a very tall building in this town.

    Sudbury? On a Saturday night?

Just as exciting as Chicago, I'm sure.

It actually was just as fun as Chicago! That had as much to do with the people we were with as our surroundings.

Yay, Chicago! The Taste can be a bit overwhelming if you weren't prepared for it. Too many people! Did you get to see the fireworks?
