Who's sexy now?

I'll begin with some knitting news. I have about 6 cm of my sweater knitted. I had to rip it out several times because I couldn't count for the knit 3 purl 3 ribbing. It is going to be so nice and I am so excited about it!
Something else exciting is my new laundry tub that my very handy husband installed today! We had a double concrete laundry tub that I liked because of its durability, however it leaked and made M crazy. So today, he went out and got a sledge hammer to break up the old tub and put in a new one. Not one leak. Now I want a new toilet and sink. He shouldn't have done such a good job!

Lisa was right!

It was a wonderful weekend! It started Friday night when Rebecca, Craig, and Jan came over and we watched Anchorman. I had a little nap towards the end, but I had seen it several times. Saturday morning Mike and I got up and went to the grocery store, I can't remember the last time we went for groceries together like that. It's kind of sad when going to the grocery store together feels like a date. We started playing hockey on Saturday afternoon in the snow. It was a little slippery but it didn't slow some people down! After hockey we somehow managed to fit 16 people in our living room for some delicious chili and bread (I thought it was delicious, but I'm biased because I made it). It's a good thing we all know each other well, because it was very cozy! After supper, the drinking began. And that's all I'm going to say about that.

It was so nice to see so many great friends that we don't get to see often enough. Thanks to everyone who came, we'll see you again soon and for next year's game!

manosmitts and buttonhole
Don't the mittens look symmetrical! I should have made the ends of the thumbs manos to match the mitten, but I couldn't be bothered.

Hey! I Want A Massage Too!

Flickr is having ANOTHER massage, so there will be no pictures of my finished mittens. There were almost no more pictures ever after my camera decided to jump out of my pocket while I was two stories up on a ladder on Saturday morning. Luckily it hit a plastic patio table on the way down before it thudded into the snow. I think the table broke the fall and it's as good as new! My previous camera, which jumped out when I was coming out of an attic onto a concrete floor, was not so lucky. I guess my camera is kind of like a canary in a coal mine, with the conclusion being that if I have to fall off a ladder, I should fall onto a snowy deck and not a concrete floor. (Watch what my mom writes after she reads that ).
Since my mittens are finished, I have finally decided to knit my sweater. It took a little bit of metal preparation to finally start, but I think I'm ready! I have decided to use this pattern, but put a decorative ribbing around the bottom, using my Knitting on the Edge book. I originally thought I would put a little heart or snowflake border, but I think I'll use one of their ribbings to keep the bottom from flaring or curling. I'm very excited about having a nice warm sweater for the spring!
I noticed a tulip coming up in one corner of my garden today. Unfortunately the rest of it is covered in 50 cm of snow. I've been so busy knitting this year that I haven't spent much time planning my garden. Usually I am being consumed by it at this point! I think I'm going to get a book that tells me what flowers make good dyes so that I can plant some of them. Any suggestions for good books?
My sister signed me up for a meme and I've been putting that off for a good long time. I'll have to get at it soon. There was also some exclamations after I said I cut my hair off. I'm not bald or anything. It's the Ramona Quimbly Age 8 haircut, but I grew out my bangs.

Mittens take a little

There may or may not be a picture to go along with this post, depending on whether or not flickr is back up by the time I am finished spewing. I have completed the SnB bag that will most likely go to my sister in law in Spain, but I haven't felted it yet. I think that the girls and I are going to do that next Tuesday since both Carol and Ami have stuff to felt and I feel really guilty just felting one thing at a time in a washer-full of hot water. Kind of like a knitting knight field trip, I guess you could say. I have also finished (minus the thumb) a mitten to match my felted Manos/Lismore hat. Now that I cut off all my hair and no longer have a pony tail, it fits all the time, and luckily it's still winter, so I still need it all the time! I haven't had a lot of time to knit this week, it has just been kind of busy. I am surprised that it only took me the week to make the mitten though. Very quick indeed. Plus, I think I'll have tons of yarn left over still. I used size 3.75mm needles and it seems like it will be nice and warm. I'll probably need to use them too since winter does not seem to be ending. I really don't think that we've had that bad a winter though, it seems like we had a little bit of cold but generally it wasn't bad. Am I just crazy? Some might say so, but I have come to realize this winter that I actually don't mind the cold at all. As long as I am dressed for it (which I usually am) I like being outside. Plus I love being able to wear long johns around the house when I get home from work. Somehow it would seem dirtier to take off my pants and just wear undies around in the summer. Long johns are much more civilized.
Soo.... Flickr still isn't up yet so I can't upload my pictures...what should we talk about...hmmm. I'm doing surprisingly well on my 'no yarn for lent' thing. I saw that Len's in Cambridge has raised their prices but I haven't yet been to Guelph, Kitchener, or Brantford to compare. A ball of Alafoss Lopi is now 6.40 I think, rather than the old 5.80. Everything else is similarly increased. I found in my stash that I have some White Buffalo wool in colours that will make a nice Easter/spring bag so I may not have to even buy any. That good, but quite booooring.
Speaking of boooring, Flickr is not up yet and I should not be up still. So I'll see you cats later, hopefully not 2 weeks later, but we'll see.
